MEDICARE FRAUD CONCERNS

Recently, Medicare has identified $2 billion in fraudulent catheter billing across the nation. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) have identified several “new” providers taking advantage of Medicare and beneficiaries by billing unsolicited catheters. This information breach may be associated with a July data breach at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which CMS acknowledged in November
of last year.

We at Triumph wanted to make you aware of this Medicare event. We have heard from several end-users of instances of receiving explanations of benefits for catheters supplies from unknown providers.

On Monday February 26th , 2024, Medicare stated the fraudulent billing to be at a 10-fold increase from 2023 to 2024. It is our assumption Medicare is continuing to investigate this situation. See below for additional resources to learn more about the issue.
We encourage you to be vigilant to protect your health information. Be diligent in reviewing your catheter explanation of benefits. Medicare will always provide you with an explanation of benefits when Medicare pays for supplies for your care.

Be cautious with your information. Make sure you are aware of who you are talking with on the phone and be sure you are comfortable with the conversation. Or if you want to talk to someone Triumph can always help to at (402) 434-5080
